Application for a library card for interested parties from the city and region

You can use this form to apply for a library card. You must be at least 14 years old and have a permanent residence in Germany.

Members of the University of Würzburg do not need this application, as their chip card is also valid as a library card at the University Library.

There is a fee of 8.00 € for processing your application and issuing your library card, which you must pay when you submit your application. After submitting the completed application form, you will be immediately redirected to the payment process. You can pay via PayPal, credit card, or direct debit.

We usually process your application on the first business day (Mon–Fri) after receiving your payment. We will then send you an e-mail with your University Library number and the initial password for your library account. Your library card will then be available for pickup for 60 days.

You can collect your library card in person from the information desk at the Main Library by presenting your valid identity card.

If you do not have a valid ID, please present your passport and a proof of residence. Proof of residence can be provided in the form of a current registration certificate (less than 6 months old) or your valid residence permit.

Minors must also provide a declaration of consent from a parent or legal guardian when collecting their library card:
